Geneaology Project
Contact: Dr.
Rubina Patel
The main
goal of the Genealogy Project is for future generations, especially those
not born in Iran, India or Pakistan, to learn about their ancestral heritage.
The development of a genealogical chart that demonstrates how we all connect
through a world-wide interrelated web, may assist in our understanding
of many issues in the development of our community, even as we have migrated
internationally. In the current "gathering" phase of the Project we request
individuals to send their family information to Dr. Rubina Patel. Once
compiled, the information will be available on this website.
Even though there is a paucity of genealogical information
on "behdin" populations, genealogies of priestly families in India have
been meticulously maintained. Two such genealogies, spanning 700 years
and approximately 28 generations, are currently available for the Udvada
and Navsari mobeds of India. All priestly genealogies thus far are exclusively
male; we would like to take these charts a step further and include the
women of these families as well, thereby making the record more complete.
If anyone has information to share with us, we would greatly appreciate
receiving it.
We would also like to construct genealogical charts
for Iranian Moobeds for which we request interested individuals to send
us information, some of which may already be available.
We hope our efforts will eventually demonstrate that
all of us are connected, closely or distantly. The ultimate goal of this
Project is to enter the current global Zarathushti population plus ancestral
information (as much as individuals can provide), so future generations
around the world will know, and can be proud of, the heritage from whence
they came.
Every family has a genealogist in its midst. We request
these individuals to send in their family information so that a permanent,
centralized record can be maintained for posterity. For further information,
please contact Rubina at RJPatel@aol.com
or (301) 754-2762. Many grateful thanks for participating in this Project.
