Our
Vision
Honoring the diversity
of our various world-wide communities that enrich us as Zarathushtis/Zoroastrians,
we envision reaching our goals by:
- Gathering and spreading
an awareness of the issues facing Zoroastrian women of all ages in their
communities world-wide, and sharing how they are addressed, while offering
supportive responses & concrete strategies to the world-wide community
about these issues.
- Providing a world-wide
forum (initially via a web-site, list server, chat room etc.) to discuss
these issues, update them & develop strategies for sharing various
ideas & interventions (booklets, workshops, support groups) and
providing a network of resources. We will work towards reaching and
including those unable to access technology, and attempt to develop
bridges between those divided socio-economically.
- Educating the wider
community at large about these issues, so as to get their cooperation
& contributions towards our goals.
- Providing Zarathushti
women opportunities to realize their full potential and to attain a
higher profile in society through visibility, networking and programs
designed to promote their role in public, corporate and civic arenas.
(E.g. To nominate and ensure Zarathushti women representation on various
international bodies).
- To inspire Zarathushti
women to fulfill their personal and professional potentials, moving
into professions of their choice, while empowering them world-wide to
collectively work for the social, economic, political and cultural progress
of the Zarathushti community in general and women and children in particular,
creating a brighter future for their children and helping make this
world a better place to live in.
- Providing supportive
mentoring relationships for young Zarathusthi women, helping ensure
a brighter future for them, attempting to reach those cut off from access
to the developed world.
- Facilitating research
and initiatives to help alleviate health problems within the Zarathushti
community (E.g. Z. women's Breast Cancer Research)
- Helping support
the development of a genealogical chart that demonstrates how we all
connect through a world-wide interrelated web, and may assist in our
understanding of many issues in the development of our community, even
as we have migrated internationally.
- Helping assess
and address the issues of our aging Zarathushti population, developing
resources, and offering support services.
- Helping women
manage their multiple life roles in the family, their professions and
in society and addressing issues of how migration for some and or lack
to resources for others may have affected family structures, values
and life-styles, by providing supportive information, and networking
opportunities, workshops, local support groups etc.
